Country Bob's All-purpose sauce

Hey everyone!! Glad to see you back at Tasty treats....

Today I would like to introduce you all to an awesome product : Country Bob's All purpose Sauce. Quoting from the Country Bob's website, to give you an introduction, "It was 1968 when Country Bob Edson perfected his steak sauce recipe and he called it an All Purpose Sauce because it was more than just a steak sauce. Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce has remained the flagship item since 1982 when Country Bob, Inc. was established".

I was sent two bottle of their delicious all purpose sauce to try and review. It arrived promptly, well packaged and tempting.

According to the Country Bob's website, "Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is in a class by itself. It is more than a steak sauce, because of its unique flavor and the variety of uses. You can grill, cook, and marinate with it, or put it in your soups, stews, baked beans, and your other favorite dishes. Use our All Purpose Sauce on: Steak, Chicken, Barbeque, Fries, Hamburger, Fish and so much more!"

I had tried the sauce in a couple of recipes. The first choice ofcourse was Chicken wings tossed in the sauce. The sauce is thick and sweet and complimented the chicken wings very well. It is best enjoyed with a side of ice cold beer. The recipe for the Chicken wings can be found here. Toss the baked chicken wings in the Country Bob's All purpose sauce for an exciting taste treat!

The second recipe that I tried was the barbeque chicken pizza with mushrooms, green peppers and onions. I thoroughly enjoyed this recipe, especially the use of all-purpose sauce as the base. It particularly well complimented the pizza toppings and was really delicious!! I would say I liked this better than the chicken wings (which I never would've expected!!). The recipe for the pizza can be found here.

I would like to try a couple of more recipes with the sauce when I get some time, including Sloppy joes and a pulled pork sandwich. The only thing I would've preferred is the sauce to have a bit more kick on the spicy side which would've made it absolutely perrrrfect for me!!

Check out the Country Bob's All purpose sauce and more at Country Bob's place. I apologize for the big delay in posting this review, Mr. Malekovic. Thanks so much for your patience and support!!

Buitoni Wild Mushroom Agnolotti - a review for Foodbuzz Tastemaker programme!!

Once again I would like to introduce to you all, a new product on the market. Its the Buitoni reserva Wild Mushroom Agnolotti, a new line of Italian pasta meals with minimal processing and no artificial ingredients. I got to sample the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti through the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program, which pairs up Foodbuzz members with vendors who choose to get their products reviewed. This is my third review for the Tastemaker programme.

The package of pasta arrived promptly after my acknowledgement of the offer. The package of agnolotti can be refrigerated or frozen. If frozen, the product doesnt have to be thawed, we just have to follow the cooking instructions. I kept mine in the refrigerator.

Agnolotti is a kind of ravioli made with small pieces of flattened pasta dough, folded over with a roast beef meat and vegetable stuffing (wiki). The Buitoni Wild Mushroom Agnolotti is generously filled with fresh portobello & crimini mushrooms, imported Grana Padano & Parmesan cheeses and fresh roasted garlic. The cooking is minimal, with just boiling the pasta for about 4-6 minutes. The serving suggestion is to serve with pasta sauces or simply tossing them in extra virgin olive oil.

I prepared them following the package instructions. A couple of the stuffed agnolottis broke while cooking. For the pictures, I have presented the cooked pasta as such, with a drizzle of oil and a sprinkling of oregano. I was plesantly surprised by the delicious and delicate flavor of the agnolotti. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the stuffing was delicious. The texture of the filling was amazing. I could taste the cheeses and the mushrooms. I really enjoyed my share and they are amazing just on their own, without any sauces. I would have loved it even more if there was a bit more of the stuffing in the pasta. Nevertheless, I have no trouble giving it 5 stars for taste and ease of preparation!!

Thank you Foodbuzz for yet another amazing oppurtunity to sample a wonderful product! Check out the Buitoni products at your grocers - I really enjoyed the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti, try them out and share your experiences with me.

Have a great day!!

True decadence with Quaker True Delights!

Wonder what I am doing picturing a box of Quaker granola bars? I was again lucky enough to receive these new bars - True delights by Quaker - for review, under the Tastemaker program of Foodbuzz.

Just like the last product that I was allowed to sample and review (Cowgirl Chocolates), I received the package of these delicious bars within days of my acknowledgement!! I felt really excited because we were allowed to sample these just before their introduction into the market.

The granola bar packaging itself looked so dreamy with beautiful logos and the list of key ingredients! There were 6 bars - 2 each of these flavors.

Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond
Toasted Coconut Banana Macadamia Nut
Honey Roasted Cashew Mixed Berry

Without any delay, JM chose the Toasted Coconut Banana Macademia Nut bar and I settled for the one with Chocolate in it. JM loved his bar, said it passed his taste test and has been JM-certified now!! I loved the one I chose - the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond but I thought that it was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. I had the Toasted Coconut Banana Macademia Nut bar the next day but wasnt too happy with it. Finally I tried the Honey Roasted Cashew Mixed Berry bar and was pleasantly surprised!!! It was as if I had saved the best for the last. It presented the perfect combination to my taste buds and I was floored!! I would say they were all more like desserts than a snack!!

Review:

I would say the Cashew - Mixed Berry was my favourite, followed by the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond and then the Toasted coconut banana macademia nut. I wouldnt mind if they were a bit less sweet. The Cashew - Mixed Berry bar had chewy granola with a cashewnut in the middle and specks of dried mixed berries (I dont have a picture - but looks more like the Dark Choc - Raspberry one). The Toasted coconut - Banana - Macademia Nut one has large slivers/slices of coconut, dried banana with a Macademia nut and granola (pictured above). The Dark Chocolate - Raspberry - Almond one had thick chunks of chocolate and pieces of Raspberries with an Almond and granola (pictured below).

Many of you had asked during my last review on Cowgirl Chocolates, on how to sign up for the Tastemaker program. I believe that the members of Foodbuzz would have received a mail mentioning the program and on how to sign up. Once you sign-up you can choose the categories of products that you would like to try out / review. Once a product becomes available, they will inform you about the availability and if you would prefer to try it out, send a mail back with a positive response. If you are one of the lucky ones who have responded quickly, you will receive a package from the vendor or from Foodbuzz.

I am not sure if there was any deadline for signing up for the program, but those who are interested, please do go through your archives and check it out!! Hope this was of help to all of you who enquired about how to sign up!

Have a great day!

Cowgirl Chocolates from the Cowgirl!!

Foodbuzz has a new feature called the "Tastemaker program" in which members get a chance to try products by different vendors or Foodbuzz partners. I jumped at the oppurtunity to try out new products especially since Foodbuzz promised to bring only the best products for its members to sample. It is an opt-in programme and if you sign up, you will get an email whenever a product becomes available. And if you are quick with your response "Yes!", a sample would be send to you ASAP. Some products might be in limited supply and so its dispensed on a first-reply basis.

I recently received an email about the first sample product "Cowgirl Chocolates". Those who know me would agree that I could never resist chocolates!! I sent my ooooh yes! reply to Foodbuzz and soon enough, got a package delivered home.

Inside there was this beautifully packaged red box filled with yummy treats! There were dark and light chocolate varieties along with Cappuccino, Mocha, Hazelnut, Habanero, Raspberry and Caramel. They were divided into Spicy and Mild chocolates. Some of them had a dark chocolate shell and a creamy flavored filling which was the spicy part. I could get only a few pictures because as soon as the box was opened, my lil one and husband jumped in on them! And as you can see, theres no picture of the chocolate itself because nobody had the patience to wait for a picture before tossing them in their mouth!

Verdict: As you might have guessed, we loved them. As for the spicy part, I wouldnt mind if the spicy ones were a bit more so.

Cowgirl Chocolates are sweet and spicy gourmet chocolates for adventurous chocolate lovers and packaged as unique beautiful gifts for any and all occasions - says the Head Cowgirl.... and I agree. They make for a great gift for any occassion and come in beautifully packed cute boxes and would impress anybody!!

Thanks Foodbuzz, for the wonderful oppurtunity to sample these delicious chocolates!!
